Kathryn Rogers

Kathryn A. Rogers is the Principal Architect and founder of Sogno Design Group. In 1998 she launched Sogno Design Group to focus on high quality, client-friendly, residential design. The scope of her projects includes historic remodels in San Francisco, bungalow additions in Rockridge, contemporary projects in the Oakland Hills and green design. Her design approach is collaborative: listening to clients and creating designs that suit them and their houses as well as working with specialty fabricators or sourcing specialty materials as needed.

Kathryn received her Bachelor of Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic in 1988. Early in her career, she worked on historic preservation and restoration projects for the National Park Service and private architectural firms in Washington D.C. Upon moving to the Bay Area, she worked for many years in residential design-build firms, gaining an intimate understanding of building materials and construction methods and experiencing the thrill of bringing her own designs to life. This experience continues to inform her design work and facilitates her collaboration with many contractors she works with.

Kathryn was a Board member of Architects, Designers and Builders for Social Responsibility (ADPSR) for ten years in Washington D.C and the East Bay. In this role she organized an international conference on green building that helped to launch the green building movement in the Bay Area in the early 1990s. She continues to find ways to incorporate green building methods in her projects where practical and desired by her clients.

Kathryn has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia, studying vernacular architecture.
