Sogno Design Group
Kathryn A. Rogers founded Sogno Design Group in 1998 to focus on high quality, client-friendly, residential design. Our projects range from traditional to contemporary in style. The scope of our work encompasses small remodeling projects to large additions and outdoor spaces. Our work is informed by the principles of sustainable green design and aided by a rich community of builders and artisans. Our design approach is collaborative: listening to clients and creating designs that suit them and their houses. Sogno is an Italian word for dream.
Kathy Rogers
Kathryn A. Rogers is the Principal Architect and founder of Sogno Design Group. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1988. Early in her career, she worked on historic preservation and restoration projects in the Washington D.C area. Kathy has traveled extensively in Europe and Asia, photographing and sketching buildings in order to gain a deep understanding of the roots of many of the architectural styles used throughout the Bay Area. Upon moving to the Bay Area, she worked for many years in residential design-build firms, gaining an intimate, hands-on understanding of building materials and construction methods and experiencing the thrill of bringing her own designs to life. This experience informs her work and facilitates collaboration with the contractors who build her projects.
Kathy was a Board member of Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR) for ten years in Washington D.C and the East Bay. In this role she organized an international conference on green building that helped to launch the green building movement in the Bay Area in the early 1990s. She continues to find ways to incorporate green building methods into all of her projects.
